Today(or rather, tonight) I found an interesting community called, fanficrants.

Dear people who take this too seriously,
You DO NOT have the right to a fandom free of badfic. Authors who write badfic ARE NOT committing a crime. Fandom IS NOT a place you have to "deserve" to be in because you write well. Bad writing IS NOT an excuse for bad treatment.

Or in other words ...

You ARE NOT doing anything good by harrassing or insulting bad writers or telling them that they shouldn't be writing, YOU ARE BEING AN ASSHOLE.

There's no law that you're only allowed to be creative if you're good at it. Let them have their fun, for chrissakes. It won't kill you to click the "back" button if it's really that horrible. LET IT GO.

Edit: Before anyone else misunderstands, by "insulting" I didn't mean ranting about badfic or sporking it in places like GAFF. Guess that wasn't clear.

I would love it if this post were not to be deleted. Then again, I am a co-mod. But tonight I feel like pointing that out.

Now, I didn't write the above. It takes so much brainpower, which I lack, and if you peered really close (and squinted) you'd see the little note that says, two sentences prior from this one that I am typing out: Taken off. Go figure.

That's not right. Telling people they can't write if it's not any good. Who are they to judge what is good or bad? Every one is different, so every one tastes in things are different.
I think it's fine to complain, but it's completely pointless to complain to the author. Unless it is, like we always say, constructive criticism.

But I know what you mean. You can't have it all. If you want perfectly written (or as good as it gets) stories, go to a bookstore. Personally, I like being able to just find amazing stories when I want to, but I try to read as many fics as possible.

I severely dislike the people who write for someone other than themselves, (50 comments or i'm not posting the next chapter!!1! ^__^) but if someone is just writing because they want to, because it's fun, and they just want to share it in a public forum, how is it helping anything by telling them they "suck"?

If people want perfectly written stories, they could start a goddamn rating fanfiction community. Where they get to choose who comes in.

Other than that, it's a free for all.

But, yes, agreed.
Wait I'm confused are you just saying that this person has a point because I know I argee but I just fried my brain on a History test.
